It should always be remembered that research etc, has to be funded by someone most of the time, and if the research starts to find opposing findings against the funding investors interest then it usually stops and someone else is found that will support or distort the research in favour of the investors interest.
It must also be stressed that any illness has to have an 'environment' to maintain its existence, whether this be external or internal environmental cause.
No matter what the illnesses name or title is, as a simplistic statement "if the environment was not there it would not exist."
