What is pH?

Its a value that indicates whether something is acid or alkaline, or if its neutral as a substance.

These 'values' could be likened to what temperature degrees are to hot and cold, in indicating numerically whether something is hot or cold.

But, in this case are indicating whether something is acid or alkaline.

The pH numerical scale is from 0 to 14.

Zero = extremely acidic.

7 = neutral, the acid and alkaline are in equal balance in pH values.

14 = extremely alkaline.

Most substances are either acid or alkaline, very few are truly neutral.

Body fluids can be tested this way, as to their pH value, by using pH papers.

There are more sophisticated ways of testing pH as well.

The objective of testing pH is to find out what the persons body is doing with foods and beverages as it assimilates or tries to assimilate them.

A common mistake made, is to think that foods that are either acid or alkaline will be the same when a person metabolises them.

The best way to check what a food or beverage becomes is to see what they become as an 'ash'.

An apple a day may keep the doctor away.

But, eat 2 and it could wrinkle you !

Some practitioners think that pH is easy to alter, well maybe it is there and then, but the day after it will be back to being the same as it was before, why ?

Because they haven't taken into account what is happening at a cellular level, this cellular level is what is known as your biological terrain.

Muscle testing will NOT correct it, as there are too many variables that need to be assessed with your pH readings.

If your very acidic then eating all alkaline foods will not correct this imbalance as you are for want of a better phrase 'stuck', the same also applies to an alkaline imbalance.

What's this biological terrain then?

A way of thinking about your internal biological terrain is to think of how you would like your garden to grow?

If you leave loads of rubbish and weeds in your garden, would you expect to get a rosette at the Chelsea flower show, not really!

If you tend to the soil and adjust its pH, and really nice flowers grow then you may have a chance of a rosette at the Chelsea flower show.

If you eat "dead nutrient deficient" irradiated microwaved foods and beverages.

How do YOU expect your body to assimilate something out nothing?

But it will be affected by RADIATION!

Most people treat their body's as if they are not part of them, by eating and drinking things that they know do NOT suit or are "bad" for them.

A typical example of abuse is the person that takes heart burn medication because they get heart burn "damn stomach", nothing to do with their hands and eyes putting the food in there first off! I actually know one person who drinks larger like a fish but gets really bad heartburn, does he reduce or stop his intake of larger, NO, he takes ant-acid heartburn tablets with his larger, so that he can carry on drinking!

Now believe it or not you need acidity to break foods down for assimilation.

The "heartburn" is actually informing you that you are too dry at a cellular level.

This is best described as being rather like a cordial drink that you would in theory need to dilute with WATER, which is what your body also needs to dilute its acidity!

What you do NOT need is 'heart burn' medication to stop this "undiluted process".

When all you really need is WATER.

If you do not break the ingested foods down then you will have problems assimilating them, so why eat them in the first place? Especially microwaved foods and beverages.

Why does this person need to alter what should be the correct acid pH, to an excessive alkaline pH which will stop the heartburn.

But it will also stop the proper digestion of foods as it becomes too alkaline which will become a malabsorption and all the problems that can be associated with malabsorption.

If you keep getting heartburn then something is wrong somewhere, and WILL come back later on in life to 'haunt you", in one form of ill health or another if you carry on using ant-acids!

pH assessment is part of our clinical nutritional testing protocols in the clinic.
