What is Homoeopathy ?

Homeopathy uses natural substances in minute doses to stimulate or activate a body's own innate healing capacity.

The word 'homeopathy' is derived from two Greek words omio (meaning 'same') and patbos (meaning 'suffering').

The Greek physician, Hippocrates, over 2000 years ago, taught about a principle called the law of similars.

This principle states that "like cures like" - that is, a substance that triggers a certain symptom / sets of symptoms or illness in a healthy person can also help alleviate the same set of symptoms in a sick person.

Symptoms a way in which the body expresses itself in trying to heal or re-establish a homeostasis or balance.

It is more beneficial to aid and stimulate the body's immune system instead of treating or suppressing specific symptoms.

Homeopathic remedies are prepared using a process call potentisation, which is the successive dilution of a small amount of the original substance from each dilution.

This process ensures that the substance has been diluted to the point where it cannot cause an allergic reaction, in fact if it was analysed by a laboratory they would probably tell you that nothing was in the remedy.

Homeopathic theory states that a more dilute remedy (less in it) the longer it will act, and it will also be more effective, requiring fewer doses.

Because of a new understanding and more information about drug toxicity from using orthodox drugs and their detrimental effect on a person's health, homeopathy is gaining more acceptance.

Homeopathy is considered to be non-toxic and safe due the dilution of the remedies used.

While some toxic substances, such as arsenic, cadmium, and mercury, are the basis of certain remedies, the dilutions are so extreme that they cannot reach toxic levels in the body, or as stated above cannot be detected with a laboratory analysis.

Unlike the possible dangerous side effects of orthodox drugs, homeopathy has virtually no side effects.

Homoeopathic remedies in general are natural, made from dilutions of plant, mineral, and animal substances.

There are no known or documented cases of homeopathic remedies interacting with conventional drugs adversely.

Two hundred years and millions of cases have shown that homeopathy aided in the treatment of illnesses and ailments.

Clinical evidence, scientifically conducted double-blind tests, and scientific research published in medical journals have demonstrated the effectiveness of homeopathy.

In all that time and in all those cases, homeopathic remedies have never proven to be toxic to the body.

With the rising costs of health care today, you'll find that homoeopathy offers tremendous savings over traditional prescription and over-the-counter drugs. The added bonus of using homoeopathic remedies is that with proper handling and storage, homeopathic medicines have an unlimited shelf life.

Homoeopathy can be made as single remedies or complex remedies.

The complex remedies are were compatible remedies for the symptoms are combined together.

If single remedies were used, they would be administered after each other in finding which suited the person best.

Sales of complex remedies show that they are now being used more by classical homoeopaths than are the singular remedies.

Daisy - Latin Name = Bellis Perennis

Yes, even the common daisy is a very useful homoeopathic remedy.

Some of its uses homoeopathically are for : muscular soreness, sprains, congestion of veins, after surgical work, injuries to nerves, an intolerance of cold bathing.

It should be realised that there are other remedies that will also treat the above symptoms and this is why you need an in-depth consultation or testing to determine which is the correct remedy for you as a person.

These and other remedies can be tested against the person using Modern acupuncture techniques.
