Mobile Phones Idea from East Anglian Ambulance Service Following the disaster in London . . . East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon Weston. The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency" or for that matter in cases of any accidents. It's so simple that everyone can do it.
It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

NHS and Acupuncture
It now seems that the NHS has decided that acupuncture will have to be given under the direction of a medical doctor, within the NHS. Sounds great, BUT lets look at a basic fact, the medical diagnosis / treatment didn't work in the first place, and is going to be applied via a totally different system of treatment to see if it works in the 'second' place ? Hence one of the statements that we hear from NHS acupuncture treated patients "you must be one of the people that acupuncture does not work on" ?
This should be really heard as "I'm sorry but I either don't know enough or I have been told by the doctor or doctors who treated you and didn't get a satisfactory result to treat you this way".
This is why the NHS has specialists but it seems this concept goes out the window when it comes to acupuncture, it will have to be applied under the auspices of a medical doctor who probably knows nothing about it except that you stick needles in a person or use lasers on various parts of the body. So how can they 'prescribe' and oversee something that they do not know anything about that has totally different concepts and approaches ?
Yes its free or so you think, remember you have paid or are paying for this, so its not really free !
No I'm not an NHS 'basher', I think the NHS system is a really good system when it stays with what it knows !

Influenza Pandemic - It's Coming !
On the 01/03/05 the Government finally warned that what is known as the 'bird flu' is going to strike sooner rather than later. They are also stating that a vaccine cannot be produced until it's to late !
They estimated that around 50,000 people may die from this strain. But yet a leading Russian scientist, Dr. Dmitry Lvov, head of the Ivanovsky Virology Institute, estimates that this particular strain of the flu is so aggressive and deadly that as many as one billion people around the world could die from it. He estimates that in the United States alone, we could be looking at 700,000 dead. Granted, his estimates may be high, but this man is no stranger to infectious disease. In any case, it does give you an indication of the seriousness of this next global outbreak.
There is a 70% mortallity rate for those who have come into contact with this strain of flu !!! In the fall of 2004, the World Health Organization (WHO) held a meeting of scientists, researchers, and vaccine manufacturing company representatives. In that meeting, the World Health Organization reached some startling conclusions that many people still have not fully grasped. The organization stated that the next global flu pandemic is fast approaching. There is a strong chance it may become an epidemic as soon as next year, and if that happens, literally 30% of the world’s population will become infected with influenza. The particular influenza strain being watched is the H5N1 bird flu virus. Should an outbreak occur, the total deaths expected around the world, according to the WHO, numbers in the tens of millions of people. Furthermore, the WHO says that the United States currently has no vaccine to distribute to the population that might offer protection from this flu epidemic. In their own words, "...the H5N1 strain has demonstrated its capacity to infect humans and cause severe disease, with high fatality, on three separate occasions beginning in 1997. "The disease in humans has no vaccine to confer protection and no specific treatment once illness becomes severe." "In the face of a pandemic, the available supplies of antiviral drugs would be used up in days. It would take up to 18 months to make more drugs from scratch. Stockpiling is the only answer." - Dr. Robert G. Webster, member, the Infectious Diseases department of St. Jude. To date this is not happening !!
Chemotherapy / Radiation Treatment
Did you know that for every cell burned by radiation treatment that 100 million healthy cells are destroyed ! That for every cancer cell poisoned by chemotherapy 1 billion cells are also poisoned ! Followed by billions of healthy cells being stopped from reproducing ! Some of the side effects from the above that patients are not always informed about :- Blood and bone cancers. Congested lymphatic system causing lymphomas. Psoriasis. Bursitis. Damage to kidney and bladder control. Possible restriction of spinal movement. Hair loss. Suicidal / depression tendencies. If you were a prisoner of war and had this done to you or others there would be a huge outcry against human rights ! If you were a farmer and destroyed your crops in the same manner, do you think you would make a living or survive ?
Definition of 'cure' 'Any course of medical therapy especially one proved in combating a disease; a means of restoring health or improving a condition'.
Does the above come into this definition ?
Why not just treat the environment and make it inhospitable for cancer cells without destroying the healthy ones ?
The Political Side of Alternative / Complementary Treatments This is a very contentious area within alternative / complementary treatments. The public are told that regulation and registration are for the best but are they ? Lets take a look at Acupuncture. Acupuncture is to be regulated - great and I agree. But, did you know that some of the 'regulators' waving this banner are no better than the people who I would be sceptical about being allowed to practice acupuncture ! Frightening YES ! I attended a meeting in London for all acupuncture groups which was arranged by the University of Exeter, with a view to regulation and registration. One of the speakers was a medical doctor working within the NHS and from what I can gather Exeter University backed his presentation. He presented the case that only 'medically trained' people like doctors should practice acupuncture. The rational behind this were 5 cases of practitioner induced pnuemothorax (were the lung is pierced or punctured and collapses) that have been caused by acupuncture needles (as you read on please bear in mind how long acupuncture has been practiced in the UK). The doctor presented and implied that alternative / complementary practitioners were unsafe in using acupuncture needles and this was why only doctors should use acupuncture. This 'data' was challenged by another doctor who knew of the documented cases, and asked the presenter to name the group of people concerned or he would tell the assembled group of representatives for acupuncture. After basically being ignored, and asking a second time, on the third time the doctor stood up and told us the group who had caused the 5 pnuemothorax. They were medically trained doctors !! Interestingly enough the point used for needling and causing the pnuemothorax was a forbidden point in acupuncture, because the lung lies directly below it and will cause a pnuemothorax if pierced ! This from my understanding, is called acupuncture training ? So not only did they not know this via their acupuncture training, but their anatomy must be really questionable as well !!! Remember what I said about how long acupuncture has been practiced in the UK. Moral of the story is don't believe everything you hear or read without checking it out ! The same group are now in regulatory positions for the regulation and registration of acupuncture practitioners, mmmmmm ! Another interesting fact that we see in the clinic are patients who attend for treatment stating that they do not want acupuncture as they have tried it and it didn't work on them ? They were told that they MUST be the type of person that acupuncture does not work on ? This is tantamount to saying they are DEAD !! Not that the person who gave them the treatment has a low level of knowledge in acupuncture treatments and its concepts !
Funny that it worked when we applied acupuncture treatment ? I would also remind readers that there are doctors out there who have trained properly and are as safe as any other trained acupuncture practitioner. Just as there are 'mechanics and mechanics' there are 'acupuncture practitioners and acupuncture practitioners' !! |
